The Space Between the Rides
An early spring walk through Busch Gardens Williamsburg, from our March 2023 archive.
Coaster track is hard to keep out of the picture at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. It rises above the trees and crosses over the paths. When a train comes around a curve, it can take over the view for a few seconds.
This film gives the surrounding park some time in the frame, too. The footage was recorded on March 12, 2023, with bare branches above the paths, early flowers in the beds and green bunting over the streets.
The camera picks out a face carved into the stonework and a clock above the rooftops. An eagle sits on its perch. Wolves cross a wooded slope, and a horse grazes. At the crossing gate, a train passes through the street and disappears between the buildings.
The rides keep returning to the picture. A section of track cuts across the trees; another passes overhead. The final sequence follows a coaster around a curve, then leaves a little room for the river.

At Busch Gardens Williamsburg, a coaster can fill the skyline. Follow the path around a bend, though, and the view changes. These shots are from March 2023. The branches are still bare, but there are early flowers along the paths. Green bunting hangs above the streets.
There's a face carved into the stonework. An eagle holds its perch, wolves move across a wooded slope, and a horse gets on with grazing.
At the crossing, a train rolls through the street and disappears between the buildings. There are clocks and rooftops to look up at, and small sculptures along the way.
The coasters keep coming back into view, above the trees and over the paths. Then a train comes around the curve, and for a few seconds it takes over the picture.
