Carowinds’ Fury 325 and Thunder Striker paused; reopening timing unresolved

Dated reporting identifies two Carowinds ride pauses. We compare it with the park’s closure page and explain what remains unconfirmed for visitors.

Fury 325 and Thunder Striker at Carowinds were included in precautionary ride pauses following the October 12 fatal incident on Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia, Tina Terry reported for WSOC on October 13.

Terry’s report, updated at 5:01 pm, said Six Flags had not established a reopening timeline for the paused attractions. It also distinguished Carowinds’ normally scheduled closed day from the two rides’ status when the park next opens. ATP checked the report and public park information on October 14.

ABC News’ Ivan Pereira separately reported October 13 that the two Carowinds coasters were among nine additional rides temporarily closed across six parks. His report includes a manufacturer statement that Bolliger & Mabillard was investigating. The sources reviewed do not establish the cause of the Georgia incident or a finding of a defect on either Carowinds ride.

A park opening does not confirm a ride reopening

Carowinds’ scheduled ride-closures page, checked October 14, listed Electro-Spin but did not list Fury 325 or Thunder Striker. That omission does not resolve the dated closure reports or supply a reopening announcement. The page directs visitors to the official app for ride availability and warns that availability can change.

If either coaster is central to your visit, check current park information before traveling. ATP has not verified a reopening date for either ride. A park operating day and an individual attraction’s availability are separate questions.

Six Flags Over Georgia’s public update separately says Goliath remains temporarily closed without an anticipated reopening date. That statement concerns the Georgia ride; it supplies no timetable for Carowinds.

Our regional fall calendar covers event dates and admission requirements. Those listings do not guarantee that a particular coaster will operate.
