Waiting until evening is common park advice. We checked a narrower question: at the same attraction, on the same date, how did the posted wait during the 7 pm hour compare with the 2 pm hour?
For Peter Pan’s Flight, 21 dates from March 1–22, 2026 met our coverage requirement. The evening value was lower on 15 dates and higher on six. Taking the median of each date’s afternoon-minus-evening difference gives a five-minute reduction.
Why the chart and the comparison differ
The chart’s medians are 52.5 minutes at 2 pm and 45 minutes at 7 pm. Subtracting those gives 7.5 minutes. Our five-minute result answers a different question: first compare the two hours within each date, then find the middle of those differences. This keeps each afternoon paired with its own evening.
Five rides, different sets of dates
The selector includes Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, Space Mountain and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Each uses its own qualifying dates. Their results describe timing within a ride; they do not form an adjusted ranking across rides.
The request covered March 1–31. For each stored ride identifier, our collection contained records on 23 dates and no records on eight. Further dates failed the complete-day requirement. Missing observations cannot establish a quiet day or a ride closure.
How we calculated it
- Select ThemeParks.wiki records for five identified attractions from the local collection. Read March and April files to include the local-date boundary; filter to March 1–31 in America/New_York.
- Remove exact duplicates on collection timestamp, ride, source, wait and open status. Exclude conflicting records sharing timestamp, ride and source; keep operating records with a nonnegative posted wait, including zero.
- Take the median inside each 15-minute collection bucket; each bucket gets equal weight. An hour needs at least three distinct buckets with valid operating readings.
- Require all ten hours, 10 am through 7 pm, on a date. Each attraction has its own matched date cohort; days missing any qualifying hour are excluded.
- The curve is the median of the per-day hourly values, with each day equally weighted. The optional band is the middle 50% of those day values, not a confidence interval.
- For the paired comparison, subtract each date’s 7 pm value from that same date’s 2 pm value, then take the median of those differences. This is not the difference between the curve’s two medians.
The calculations were checked by an independent recomputation of all five ride summaries. The expandable table shows hourly values, sample coverage and the qualifying dates for each ride.
What this study can tell you
In this selected March sample, evening posted waits were often lower, but the size and direction varied. A five-minute median difference gives limited support for reorganizing an entire park day around the 7 pm hour.
- Posted waits from a third-party feed, not actual queue-to-boarding measurements, attendance or ATP firsthand reporting.
- A retrospective descriptive case study of selected March 2026 dates at one park, not a forecast, causal estimate, annual pattern or guaranteed time saving.
- Complete-day selection favors well-observed operating days. Missing collection periods and excluded days may differ; the study does not establish attraction reliability.
- Collection timestamps do not prove when the upstream value was last updated. Repeated readings are not independent visitors or separate measured queues.
- Each ride uses its own qualifying days. The chart supports within-ride timing comparisons, not an adjusted ranking of the five rides.
- 10 am is not necessarily park opening, and 7 pm is not necessarily closing. This study makes no rope-drop or end-of-night claim.

After correcting park identities elsewhere in our catalog, we checked the five rides in this study against archived mappings and the provider’s current attraction records. All five belong to Magic Kingdom. The source files match the originals, and a separate calculation reproduced every published result. This checks the named ride identities; it cannot reconstruct every original feed response.
The archive’s older import code could turn a missing wait into zero. These files do not reveal which zeros, if any, came from that rule. We repeated the calculation without any zero-minute readings: all five sets of qualifying dates, chart values and paired results stayed the same. The findings and original publication date are unchanged.
